Copyright and Licensing

Authors who publish with the Journal of Al-Turath University College (JATUC) retain the copyright of their published work. By submitting and publishing an article in the journal, the authors grant JATUC the right of first publication and the non-exclusive right to publish, reproduce, distribute, archive, and identify the journal as the original publisher of the article.

Articles published on the journal’s current Open Journal Systems platform are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Previous volumes and issues published during 2001–2025 are available through the journal’s archive on the Iraqi Academic Scientific Journals platform (IASJ). The copyright and licensing terms applicable to articles in the previous archive are determined by the copyright or licensing statement displayed in each individual article or issue. The current CC BY 4.0 license does not apply retrospectively to archived articles unless expressly stated in the relevant article or issue.

Under the CC BY 4.0 license, users are permitted to:

  • Read, download, copy, and share the published article.
  • Distribute and reproduce the article in any medium or format.
  • Adapt, remix, and build upon the material for any lawful purpose, including commercial use.

These uses are permitted provided that users:

  • Give appropriate credit to the original author or authors.
  • Cite the original publication in JATUC.
  • Provide a link to the CC BY 4.0 license.
  • Indicate whether any changes were made.
  • Do not imply endorsement by the authors or the journal.

Authors may enter into additional non-exclusive agreements for the distribution of the published version of their work, such as depositing it in an institutional or subject repository, publishing it on a personal website, or including it in a book, provided that its original publication in JATUC is properly acknowledged.

No permission from the authors or the journal is required for the reuse of articles licensed under CC BY 4.0, provided that the reuse complies fully with the terms of the license.
