Abstract

Artificial intelligence has been recognized as a major force in revolutionizing image processing. Hence, this paper undertakes a survey of recent image processing technologies, which mainly include Artificial Intelligence techniques like machine learning and deep learning methods. Recent AI-based technologies like Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and transformer-based models have significantly raised the level of performing different image tasks such as image classification, object detection, image enhancement, and pattern recognition. In addition to the High-tech in Medical Imaging Security autonomous systems, and multimedia technologies are also regarded as the main application domains of AI-driven image processing in this review.

Highlight the main issues such as very large dataset dependence, high computational cost and incomprehensibility of models. At last, we are talking about the good ways of future research development that aim at the promotion of able, scalable and interpretable AI models. In brief, this article gives a full review of AI as one of the most effective change agents in the image processing field.
